Toronto was one of the last jurisdictions in the province to enter stage two of the province’s reopening. Toronto mayor John Tory says it only makes sense that Toronto is one of the last to enter stage three.
The province announced the decision on Monday to leave Toronto, Peer Region and Windsor-Essex in stage two with the rest of the province in stage three on Friday.
“Public health officials are very cautious about the larger reopening,” Tory said at his availability at City Hall on Monday. “Throughout this pandemic we have followed the advice of professionals at the local, provincial and national levels and that must continue so as to make absolutely sure that we have a strong and safe restart and recovery.”
Regions in stage 3 can hold indoor gatherings of up to 50 people, while outdoor gatherings can include up to 100 so long as physical distancing measures are followed.
