David Byrne’s “American Utopia” took Broadway by storm when it opened last year and now it will headline the opening night of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
TIFF made the announcement on Tuesday.
The show is based on the former “Talking Heads” frontman’s album and tour of the same name.
Iconic director Spike Lee is behind the project.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, TIFF will be a mixture of physical and virtual events this year and may lack a lot of its usual star power.
TIFF is scheduled to open on September 10.
