Ottawa’s laying out what millions on the Canada Emergency Response Benefit can expect once CERB runs out October 2.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announced the government will create a transitional, parallel benefit that’s similar to E-I to help those who don’t qualify for employment insurance, such as gig or contract workers.
”It will include access to training and being able to work more hours and earn more money while receiving the benefit,” said Trudeau.
”That’s only appropriate as our economy re-opens and brings back more jobs.”
The Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance plan is also being extended through August.
Trudeau also indicates a new sickness and caregivers benefit is on the way for those not covered at work if they or a loved one is infected and they need to stay home.
