The mother of a Brampton man brutally attacked in his driveway early this month has received a bravery award.
Jasmail Kaur Mann accepted the award at city hall Thursday afternoon by Mayor Patrick Brown.
“You ran to save your son, you risked your own safety to stop something much worse from happening because of your bravery, AND this moment was captured on camera and we’re all able to witness your remarkable courage,” said Mayor Brown.
On August 4, police responded to a call that a man was being assaulted by three suspects in the driveway of a residence in the area of Mayfield Road and Hurontario Street. The victim, podcast host and real estate agent Joti Singh Mann was attacked just after he got into this vehicle by three suspects armed with a machete and an axe. The assault continued until his mother intervened. Police are still looking for the suspects. Joti Singh Mann is recovering from injuries suffered in the attack.
Police confirm that before the incident, Mann received a death threat while recording a recent episode of his podcast.
