Born on this day, a member of two of the most successful Canadian rock bands: Randy Bachman of the Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Bachman was inspired to take up guitar at the age of 15, after seeing Elvis play on Tommy Dorsey’s television show.

This year Bachman was honoured with a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. The Guess Who had already been given a star on the walk. According to the CBC, Bachman joked that he liked the latest one better because he did not have to share it.
