Rockabilly bassist Bill Black died at the age of thirty-nine from a brain tumour. Black was the leader of Bill Black’s Combo and played bass for Elvis Presley. 

One of Black’s stand-up basses is now owned by Paul McCartney. It was purchased for him by his late wife Linda McCartney as a birthday present in the late 70s.
