A new Angus Reid poll suggests that the idea of political correctness is igniting controversy across the country. Although the movement comes from the understandable desire to sweep away the debris of racism, sexism and hatred, it replaces old prejudice with new ones and declares certain topics off-limits, certain expressions off-limits.
With Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump at the helm of the latest anti-‘PC’ movement, many, including a majority of Canadians, agree political correctness has “gone too far”.

This new public opinion poll finds that while Canadians are sympathetic to the value of following certain PC values, most say there are certain things you just shouldn’t say in unfamiliar company – they are also wary of the freedom of expression movement. Who better to talk about political correctness than Mark Breslin, entrepreneur, stand-up comedian who is best known for being the co-founder of Yuk Yuk’s, the largest chain of comedy clubs in Canada.
