In January, Loblaws offered $25 gift cards after admitting its role in a bread price-fixing scandal, but in order to collect, customers had to fill in an online form providing details including their name and address. Many people have already received their card in the mail without any additional steps, but some have been asked to give the company a copy of their driver’s licence or a utility bill, if they want to get the gift card. A spokesperson for Loblaw reassures that the vast majority of customers won’t be required to make the additional step of providing identification without providing details as to how they are choosing to single out some consumers.
