Woodstock and Altamont were the ‘heaven and hell’ of music festivals in 1969. But there was another famous festival that year. I’m Gene Stevens with memories of The Toronto Rock’n’Roll Revival’ at Varsity Stadium – 50 years ago this week. It was famous for 50s legends: Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis, and the surprise performance by John Lennon – his first, away from The Beatles.
Plus: spotlights on The Rascals, Lighthouse and ‘The Fabulous Fifties – and Beyond’ starting at 2 o’clock this Sunday on Vintage Favourites from Zoomer Radio.
