Canada is sending military advisors to Iraq to help in the fight against I-SIL extremists. Prime Minister Harper announced the deployment in Wales, Friday, as NATO wrapped up its summit. Harper says this is not a combat mission, but one that will see Canada and its allies provide critical advice to forces in northern Iraq as they continue to hold back the terrorist advance. NATO is also going to set up a new rapid response force to counter the threat of Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine. This despite news that pro-Russian separatists and Ukraine’s government have reached a cease-fire agreement. U.S. President Barack Obama says he’s hopeful about the agreement between Ukraine’s government and pro-Russian rebels. But, he says based on past experiences, he’s not sure separatists will follow through and that Russia will stop violating Ukraine’s sovereignty.
