Film and television professionals in Nova Scotia are planning a rally outside the provincial legislature Wednesday to protest a tax credit cut. The change, announced by the governing Liberals, will see the credit cut to $6 million from the current $24 million in next year’s budget. Film producers would also have access to an additional $6 million established in a fund for the creative sector.
Members of the industry argue the cut will effectively kill the business and thousands of jobs in the province. Industry representatives met with Nova Scotia’s Finance Minister Tuesday and say they’re optimistic a compromise can be reached.
