Yet another sign things are slowly returning to normal–the city of Mississauga is organizing an in-person New Year’s Eve celebration.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie made that announcement at her regular COVID-19 update.
The New Year’s Eve event is scheduled to take place at Celebration Square.
She says there’s reason to be hopeful as case counts in the city continue to trend in the right direction.
“We continue to make huge strides in our battle against this virus,” said Crombie. “I’m very relieved we saw a significant decrease in case counts over the last week with Mississauga now averaging 16 cases per 100,000 (people) and that’s down from 24 for last week.”
Crombie says more than 84% of eligible Mississauga residents have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
She adds residents eligible for a third dose can book their appointments at city clinics through the provincial online portal on Saturday morning.
