He was born in the States, lived most of his life in France and was soloist-in-residence with the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montreal, working with conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
Pianist Nicholas Angelich has died in hospital in Paris.
A frequent collaborator described him to the Montreal Gazette as “a generous soul and a pianist like no other.” He was scheduled to close the orchestra’s 2021-22 season with two concerts in June.
Cause of death was degenerative lung failure.
Nicholas Angelich was only 51.
