BIGGEST HITS OF A HALF-CENTURY – THE SIXTIES

We’re in the middle of a terrific five-part series featuring ‘The Biggest Hits of a Half-Century‘ – the top song of every year between 1940 and 1989. This Sunday (Oct. 2) it’s Part Three – the top songs of the Sixties – taking us from movie songs and the first blending of rhythm & blues with country and western to the British Invasion and the Age of Aquarius.  Listen as a fascinating decade unfolds through its biggest hit songs.

I’ll also salute our dear pal – Robbie Lane – who’s birthday is coming up on October 7th. I’ll have eight great songs with, and without, his Disciples, including a couple of exciting live performances. Plus ‘This Week in Zoomer Music’ remembers when Elvis gave his very first public performance at age ten and his inauspicious debut at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry; birthday salutes to Sting and Chubby Checker, and ‘The Story Behind the Song’ we hear in every James Bond movie – since the first one, 60 years ago.  ‘Dr. No’ made its UK premiere in the first week of October 1962, and I’ll celebrate that by telling you about the iconic ‘James Bond Theme’.  Tune in this Sunday from 2:00 to 4:30.  Cheers!
