Toronto is under another extreme cold weather alert.
The city’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David McKeown issued the alert Sunday and says it’s in effect until further notice.
Such an alert is issued when the forecast from Environment Canada says temperatures will drop below minus 15 degrees Celsius.
There have been at least five extreme cold weather alerts issued this year.
Under the alert, street outreach to the homeless is increased, shelters are asked to relax any service restrictions, additional shelter beds are opened, and TTC tokens are provided for people to get to shelters.
