He’s weathering the COVID pandemic, but music super star Sir Elton John is still bristling over Brexit and its implications on the English music business.
Sir Elton has described government members as “philistines” and accuses them of failing to understand the implications of Brexit on music. He calls it a nightmare that is crucifying young musicians who are just starting a career.
Since leaving the European Union, British musicians are no longer guaranteed visa-free travel into the bloc and may face huge fees when they go on tour.
The 74 year old music legend adds, people like him can afford to go to Europe because they’ve got people to fill in the forms and get visas done. And he says what makes him particularly crazy is that the entertainment business brings in about $125 Billion a year to the UK and with Brexit, most of that was tossed away.
