Ukraine’s president Volodomyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to address Canada’s Parliament at 11:15 Tuesday morning, the latest in a series of virtual visits as he pleads for international aid.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the speakers of the House and Senate, and the four opposition leaders will deliver speeches about the war in Ukraine as well.
Zelenskyy addressed the British House of Commons on March 8th and is scheduled to speak to members of the U.S. House and Senate Wednesday.
In his latest video posted on social media, Ukraine’s president updated the status of negotiations between his country and Russia.
Zelenskyy notes the latest talks Monday went pretty well, and will continue Tuesday.
Zelenskyy also addressed Russian troops directly, speaking Russian, and saying they would be treated decently if they surrender.
Putin’s forces have been engaged in relentless bombardment of Ukraine, edging closer to central Kyiv with several airstrikes hitting a residential neighbourhood.
The Geneva-based International Organization for Migration says as of Tuesday, over three-million people have fled Ukraine since Russia invaded nearly three weeks ago.
The leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia said they are travelling to Kyiv on Tuesday to show support for Ukraine.
