Health Canada should reach a decision soon about whether to approve the country’s first COVID vaccine for children between six-months and five-years-old.
It’s from Moderna.
This as American regulators have approved the vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer.
A final sign-off from the U-S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected this weekend, setting the stage for rollout next week.
Canada’s deputy chief public health officer, Dr. Howard Njoo, says regulators continue going over Moderna’s application.
”They’re still in the process of reviewing the evidence, certainly we can anticipate a decision in the coming weeks or so,” adds Njoo.
Moderna’s is the only one that’s been submitted for review.
A spokesperson for Pfizer says the company is making progress on its submission but could not provide a timeline on when it would be filed.
