He was a criminal defence lawyer, who represented mafia crime bosses in the U-S.
Gerald Shargel is said to have coupled legal scholarship with courtroom wit to decimate prosecution cases.
Shargel also unapologetically vowed to “do anything that the law will allow” to defend the mob as well as crooked politicians and other criminal types and did so for more than four decades
Among his more high profile clients was the “Teflon Don,” John Gotti.
Gerald Shargel died at his home in Manhattan on the weekend from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
He was 77.
