No less a cannabis expert than Tommy Chong is quietly applauding U.S. President Joe Biden’s declaration to pardon anyone convicted of simple marijuana possession. As any fan of Cheech and Chong knows Tommy has had his run ins with the law
The now 84-year old comedian, who was born and raised in Edmonton, says he’s not going to celebrate until the US government removes marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug
Tommy was sentenced to 9 months in a federal prison in 2003 after pleading guilty to selling bongs through a family-owned business.
Chong says Biden’s decision shows he’s got the pulse of America but thinks a rescheduling would be a huge win for everyone involved in the legitimate weed business. And Tommy will be heading to court to try to get that conviction erased.
