A 73-year-old man, suspected of killing five residents of a condo complex on Jane Street near Rutherford Road, and wounding a sixth, used a semi-automatic handgun.
That according to the province’s Special Investigations Unit which says he also lived at Bellaria Towers.
York Regional Police say three of the victims were members of the board of directors.
Their identities have not been released but police say three were men.
Police have confirmed the identity of the suspected shooter as Francesco Villi.
Court documents show he had a years long dispute with the condo board.
The board sought a restraining order against Villi in 2018, then he filed a lawsuit in 2020, alleging six directors and officers of the board had ”committed acts of crime and criminality from 2010 onwards.”
A judge dismissed the case this summer, calling it ”frivolous” and ”vexatious.”
