At Queen’s Park today, Liberal Health Critic Dr. Adil Shamji will introduce a private members bill, he says will take on price gouging by temporary nursing agencies.

The bill calls for agencies to be licensed and regulated with potential fines of up to $100,000 for unwarranted practices.

For years, hospitals and long-term care homes have relied on these agencies to cover staff shortages.   Critics have said the model is costly and unfair.

Private members bills rarely pass, but Shamji says he used the same language to Ford government did the crackdown on pandemic price gouging.
