Ottawa has announced new military support for Ukraine on the one year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement at Toronto’s Fort York.

“We will deliver four additional Leopard 2 tanks to the armed forces of Ukraine and an armoured recovery vehicle, this is in addition to the four Leopard tanks already in the region,” said Trudeau.

Trudeau also announced new sanctions on individual Russians.

“We are announcing new sanctions on 120 individuals and 63 entities including Russian Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, other members of the office of the president, members of the Russian military and those involved in the production of artillery and weapons used in Ukraine.”

In addition, Trudeau announced that federal government is sending another 20 million in aid for people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and matching millions more in private donations.
