Pope Francis has been released from the hospital in Rome where he received treatment for bronchitis.
The 86-year-old pontiff was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and given intravenous antibiotics.
When asked how he was doing on Saturday, Francis joked, “Still alive.”
Outside the hospital, the pope hugged a couple whose daughter died at Gemelli Polyclinic the previous night and autographed a boy’s cast.
Francis’ plan for Holy Week was made public by the Vatican as a sign of his improved health.
It stated that he would preside over the Palm Sunday Mass this coming weekend and the Easter Mass on April 9 in St. Peter’s Square.
Francis had a portion of a lung removed when he was a young man, making him susceptible to respiratory ailments.
