There will be a new figure on the podium of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra soon.
Cristian MÄcelaru has been hired as music director starting in the 2025-26 season and will serve as music director designate in the current season.
The 44-year old will succeed Louis Langree, who is leaving after holding the post for a decade.
MÄcelaru is also music director of the Orchestre National de France and the WDR Sinfonieorchester in Cologne, Germany and has a Grammy for best classical instrumental solo.
