Two, possibly three things are certain in Mississauga.

Name recognition is certainly playing a large reason Carolyn Parrish has an even larger lead in the field of 20 mayor hopefuls looking to replace Bonnie Crombie until the next municipal election in 2026.

Secondly, time’s running out for 19 candidates to make an impact.

Thirdly, with a new poll putting the former councillor and MP way out front with just 35-days until byelection day, this appears to indicate how things could go June 10.

Liaison Strategies’ just released survey shows among decided voters, Carolyn Parrish has a 17-point lead (37% to 20%) over Dipika Damerla.

Among all voters, Parrish has a 13% lead while one-in-four (25%) voters are undecided.

”The real story is former councillor (and former MP) Carolyn Parrish has grown her support by 8-points and now enjoys a 17-point lead,” observes David Valentin, Principal at Liaison Strategies.

”Her support is strongest among seniors, who are among the most reliable voters in elections. The potential is there for her to out-perform the polling depending on voter turnout.”
