We’ve known for decades that a daily aspirin can help stave off a heart attack. But now there’s new information to suggest that aspirin significantly reduces a man’s risk of prostate cancer. Researchers at Duke University studied close to 6390 men, none of whom had prostate cancer at the start of the study. Half of the men in the study were taking aspirin, another non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or both. Half weren’t taking anything. Over the course of the four year study, the pill popping men fared better. Taking aspirin and/or the inflammatory drug was associated with a 13 percent lower risk of developing prostate cancer. Men are advised to consult their doctor before adding aspirin to a medication regimen.
