Tickets to the Pan Am Games are now on sale.
Athletes from 41 countries in the Americas and the Caribbean are headed here next year – to compete in Toronto and other Ontario communities.
During the advance sale this autumn, organizers say more than 160,000 tickets were sold – from a total of approximately 1.4 million tickets.
But officials say seats are still available for some of the most popular sports, including track and field, aquatics, soccer and artistic gymnastics.
Pan Am ticket sales are expected to generate roughly $40 million – with sponsorships and government subsidies earmarked to help cover the rest of the Games’ $2.5-billion price tag.
The international competition is expected to draw 250,000 visitors from outside Ontario.
Tickets for the Parapan Games – running from August 7th to 15th – go on sale in March.
