Here comes the snow !
Environment Canada is warning that parts of southern Ontario will see some significant snowfall in the next 24 hours.
The system is expected to hit central Ontario and the GTA late this evening.
Most areas may get up to 10 cm total – but higher amounts near 15 cm are likely – along a swath extending from Kingston to the Ottawa area.
As much as 30 cm could fall in the Cornwall area – with 10 to 15 possible over the Niagara peninsula – and close to – and northeast of Georgian Bay.
Gusty northerly winds with the system could reduce visibility at times with snow and blowing snow.
** And there’s a Snowfall Warning for listeners in Collingwood and the Georgian Triangle region.
A total of 15 to 20 cm is expected there.
The snow is expected to slowly spread westward across the regions tonight – becoming heavy at times and continuing through Thursday – before starting to slowly ease off Thursday night.
Driving conditions will quickly deteriorate as the snow arrives tonight. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination due to low visibility – in areas of heavier snow and blowing snow. Accumulating snow on untreated roads will also contribute to hazardous winter driving conditions.
