Edward Greenspan is being remembered as one of Canada’s most famous criminal lawyers.
70-year old Greenspan died – of what’s believed to be natural causes – yesterday in Phoenix, Arizona.
Greenspan represented both the famous and obscure – and took on many high-profile cases.
His list of famous clients is lengthy, including: Conrad Black, Garth Drabinsky and Karlheinz Schreiber, a German financier involved with former prime minister Brian Mulroney.
He also defended Saskatchewan farmer Robert Latimer, who killed his disabled daughter.
Greenspan taught at Osgoode Hall Law School from 1972 to 1981 and at The University of Toronto Law School from 1972 to 1999.
His memorial will be held by Benjamin’s Park Memorial Chapel. Details are to be released Friday.
