It was a ‘where were you when’ moment last night when iconic Canadian band The Tragically Hip played what`s expected to be its final live concert. While the bandmembers were careful not to definitively say that their tour would be their last, it is expected to be the last big performance for Downie who has terminal brain cancer. A crowd of nearly seven-thousand packed the city’s K-Rock Centre including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who shared a warm embrace with Downie before the concert. Downie twice praised the Prime Minister saying “he cares about the people way up north.” Countless fans watched on T-V at home or at public screenings. Not surprisingly the biggest of the parties was in Bobcaygeon, the small Ontario community that lent its name to one of the Hip’s most celebrated songs.
