A Grammy award-winning ensemble performed to an overflow crowd at the Zoomerplex today to help kick off Ashkenaz, a festival showcasing Jewish music, arts and culture. The New York-based group has its roots in street performing. Original band member Frank London says busking was great practice and helped shape their stage presence. The performance was presented by the New Classical FM and hosted by Bill Anderson. The Klezmatics headline the Ashkenaz Festival tomorrow night, Tuesday, Aug. 30. in Richmond Hill at the Centre for the Performing Arts.
