The ZoomerPlex neighbourhood of Liberty Village could eventually get more green space.

A document released by City of Toronto staff earlier this month outlines proposed measures to make the area greener and potentially safer.

It calls for creating new parks including one where there is now a 184 space parking lot at Hanna and Liberty.  It would be 4900 square metres in size.

Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik is city councillor for Spadina-Fort York which includes Liberty Village.

“Especially for those of us who live in the downtown, who live in tall buildings, who are condo dwellers, that our parks and green spaces are our backyard and are very precious,” Malik explained, “Also, we need to make sure we are engaging with the community and what the future of Liberty Village looks like that makes it more accessible, safer and includes spaces like this where we can imagine a really great future in the neighbourhood.”

Public engagements for the new park begin later this year or early in 2025.
